We welcome you to the Chinese Studies Student Association website - your gateway to the fascinating world of Chinese culture, language, and history. As the official representative of Sinology students at the Asia-Orient Institute (AOI) of the University of Zurich, we offer a platform dedicated to academic study and cultural and social exchange.

Our Mission
Our main goal is to create an active and supportive community for Sinology students. We see ourselves as the first point of contact for all our students' concerns and work closely with the specialist associations of Japanese Studies, Islamic Studies, and Indology. This interdisciplinary approach enables us to comprehensively represent our members' interests at the AOI and build a bridge between the different fields of study.

What we do
We aim to foster a dynamic and engaged student community. We always strive to provide relevant information in Chinese studies and ensure students' voices are heard in the Institute Assembly and other university matters.

We regularly organize a variety of events to promote academic and social life. These include the first-semester aperitif, which introduces new students to their studies and university life, and various guest lectures that provide insights into current research and developments in sinology. Our end-of-semester dinner highlights the social calendar and provides a beautiful opportunity to get together in a relaxed atmosphere, share experiences, and deepen friendships.

In addition, we have an extensive film library that offers a wide range of materials on Chinese culture and history. This resource is available to all our members and is a valuable study and personal enrichment tool.
